“Poker Face” is a new mystery series from Rian Johnson, the director of “Knives Out” and “Glass Onion.” Case of the week comedy meets Peacock on January 26.

“Poker Face” is inspired by the “howcatchem” mystery format made famous by the 1970s television detective show Columbo. The series centers on Charlie Cale, a casino worker on the run. As he goes from town to town, each stop holds a murder mystery that only Charlie, and her talent as a human lie detector, can solve.

“Poker Face” stars Natasha Lyonne (“Russian Doll”) as Charlie, the main character who meets a new cast of characters in each episode. The show will also star Adrien Brody (“The Pianist”) as a casino boss, and Benjamin Bratt (“Law & Order”) as the casino’s security chief.

Guest stars in the first season include Stephanie Hsu (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (“500 Days of Summer”), Rhea Perlman (“Cheers”), Lil Rel Howery (” Get Out”), Luis Guzmán (“Wednesday”), and more.

How to watch ‘Poker Face’

You can watch “Poker Face” exclusively on Peacock starting January 26, with new episodes dropping every Thursday. As a Peacock original, the series will not be available to stream on any other platform.

A subscription to Peacock Premium costs $5 per month to view ad support and access to the entire steam library. For $10 a month, you can upgrade to Peacock Premium Plus for ad-free playback and downloadable content.

Can I watch ‘Poker Face’ for free?

While Peacock offers a free entry-level plan, “Poker Face” is exclusive to the streamer’s paid tiers. Peacock also doesn’t offer trials for its Premium plans, so the series isn’t available to stream for free.

However, if you have Xfinity cable and internet, you can get Peacock Premium at no extra cost, including access to “Poker Face.”

How many episodes will ‘Poker Face’ be? at you?

“Poker Face” season one will have a total of 10 episodes. The first four episodes will drop on Peacock at 12 a.m. ET on January 26. The next six episodes will be released weekly at the same time on Thursdays.

The season one finale of “Poker Face” is expected to air on March 9 at 12 a.m. ET on Peacock.

Is ‘Poker Face’ renewed for season 2?

As of January 25, Peacock has not yet renewed “Poker Face” for a second season. As a procedural mystery though, the premise of the series creates the possibility for future seasons.

According to Collider, Rian Johnson already hopes that “Poker Face” will last several seasons at Peacock, because “there are endless stories to tell.” It is likely that the “Poker Face” decision will not be renewed until the overall demand of the first season is assessed.

Early reviews for “Poker Face” have been positive. As of January 25, the show has a “100% Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics praise the series’ clever writing and the charismatic performance of star Natasha Lyonne.

Fans of Rian Johnson’s previous mystery films, “Knives Out” and “Glass Onion,” should definitely give “Poker Face” a shot.
